I wrote the Philips GoGear SA260 manager after purchasing the device I was unable to use it without downgrading my Windows Media Player, something I did not want to do. I read on the Philips website you could use MusicMatch Jukebox to load playlists on to the device, this didn't go very well for me either. MusicMatch crashed everytime.
So I started writing Philips GoGear SA260 manager to enable me to add songs to the MP3 player.
You can load this software on to your computer or directly on the MP3 player. The benifits to loading it on to the MP3 player is that you can plug your MP3 player in to any USB slot on any computer and manage or play your songs.
You can import files in to the organizer in one of 2 ways.
The first way is click the import button.

Then a file browser will appear, select the folder which contains your MP3 or WMA files, and highlight the files you wish to import.
![]() |
You can click and drag the mouse over the files you want, or you can individually select the songs you want.
To individually click on more than one song, click the first song you want to import, then press and hold the "Control" key (CTRL) and select the other songs you wish to import.
Once the files have been selected click "Open" the files will be copied to the MP3 player.

The other way to import files is to browse to your folder of songs using Windows explorer and click on the files you wish to import, while holding the mouse button down drag the song(s) in to the list.
To remove a song from the MP3 player click on the song in the list and then click "Delete song"

A confirmation window will appear.
![]() |
Clicking Yes will permanently remove the song from the MP3 player, the only way to get the song back on the MP3 player is to re-import the song from your computer.
Click on the song in the list that you wish to listen to and click "Play" alternatively double clicking the song in the list will also start the song playing, you can now "Pause" the song, skip to the next song, skip forward or backward in the song, and also drag the slider to get to a part of the song.

The player buttons:-
"Play" starts playing the currently highlighted song in the list.
"Pause" pauses the currently playing song
"Resume" continues playing the song after it was paused
"<<" will skip to the begining of the song or if you are already at the start of the song it will skip back to the previous song in the list
"<" will skip back a few seconds of the song, pressing and holding this button will make the track keep skipping back a few seconds at a time.
">" will skip forward a few seconds of the song, pressing and holding this button will make the track keep skipping forward a few seconds at a time.
">>" will skip to the next track in the list
"Title | Artist | Album | Time"
Clicking on the column tops will sort the song list accordingly.
When importing the files in to the MP3 player if the album art work is detected it will be imported on to the player, it is also displayed in the organizer software while songs from the album are playing.
Album art work is downloaded by such programs as Windows Media Player but only if Windows Media PLayer is allowed to connect to the internet to download track and album details, this is recomended because it makes sorting your media library easier.
Select the Play list tab.

Select <New play list>

Now drag songs from the top view down into the bottom view to create your play list.
Songs can be moved up and down the play list or removed from the play list all together. Removing a song from the play list will not delete it from the MP3 player. To reset the play list to blank click reset. Remember to save the play list once you have finished adding songs.

Select the play list you wish to edit.

You can now add or remove songs from the playlist or change the order in which they are played. Clicking reset will reload the currently saved play list. Remeber to Save the play list once you have finished editing it.
Select the play list you wish to remove and click the Delete play list button. Note this will only remove the play list data and will not delete the songs from the MP3 player.
There are a number of CD ripping software packages around, but you might find that your computer already has the ability to do this for you.
Windows Media Player 7.1 and later has the ability to rip CD's.
Alternatively you could try something like MusicMatch JukeBox, many other ripping softwares are available.
Remember to allow the Media player to connect to the internet to download the relevant song data and album art work!

Monitor when a play list is created or editing int he Gui and the user starts to navigate away, prompt the user to save the playlist or loose the modification.
Add the ability to edit some of the track data (Song title/Album Name/Genre)
Possibly add the album art in to the database (as long as the Philips player doesn't get upset, which will accomodate the Album Name change)
