My new Bus....
My type 2 was purchase from a man who had his camper on the side of the
road with a "for sale" sign stuck to the window. I drove past the camper
every day on my way to and from work. Then one day it got the better of
me and I pulled over to have a look. I wrote the phone number down and
gave the owner a call. The next day I went to work and took with me a
handful of money. I later arrived at work with my new purchase.
The camper was and still is in no way a concourse car, but it had all
the things I was interested in, a cooker, a sink, a bed and 12 months
MOT.
I proudly drove home that night and took the VW round to show it to my
friend who started me off. I casually parked up outside his house, went
in and started talking as if nothing was going on. I then turned the conversation
to my camper. He looked out the window and was quite impressed that I
had got a type 2.
This was not your normal VW camper, it had a Huntsman High top conversion,
which seemed to be quite rare. Since owning the camper I was always looking
for the same type of roof as mine, but didn't come across any.
Then one day I was at VW Action and there it was..... a Maroon camper
with the same roof, and then another in the same weekend (which I only
saw as it was leaving the show ground).
I have now decided to collect photographs of the various different High
roof campers and have put them together in my Gallery.
